Not cool, HTC

Disappointingly my HTC One (M7) seems to be going the way of my previous Desire HD with unacceptable battery life in the last few months, and the update to Lollipop hasn’t changed anything. It’s not even much more than 18 months old! After trying some sort of recovery/battery calibration I did a little test last night, using a battery doctor app to terminate most apps and then leaving my phone from almost-fully charged just to do nothing apart from very occasionally synchronise a couple of things. The result:

1/3 battery loss in 8 hours on idle?! Apparently I cannot hope to get more than 24 hours on a full charge even if I’m not using it. And I cannot work out what is causing it to wake and stay awake all through the night. Thing is, I really like this phone. But that I have to cripple it to make it last a full day of really mild usage annoys me and is making me strongly consider jumping to iPhone instead.

Factory reset time…

Update…

Factory reset seems to have made things considerably better, although many of the apps I had previously aren’t installed anymore. I’m satisfied, but it would have been nice to have not needed to completely reset the phone to fix the issue!
